While we do accept a wide variety of poses and backgrounds, your portrait should adhere to community standards, and the yearbook staff reserves the right to decline photos they deem inappropriate. The portraits on this page are good examples of what you should be aiming for. It does NOT have to be taken by a professional photographer, but does need to look professional. There are many excellent photographers and studios in the Palo Alto area. The yearbook staff can also take the photo for you, if you stop by MAC 103 during 7th period class.
Please note the following guidelines:
- The photo must be a PORTRAIT; it cannot be a ‘candid’ or ‘action’ shot.
- The photo must be cropped in VERTICAL orientation.
- The photo can ONLY have you in it. No other people. Just you.
- The photo must be in focus (blurred backgrounds are OK).
- Your face must be clearly visible in the photo. Full body photos are OK, as long as your face is visible.
- You cannot use any odd filters, effects, 0.5 photos, etc.
- No weapons, no drug/alcohol/inappropriate references or attire.
